Passionate. Invested. Experienced.

Hello! I’m CJ.

Author | Editor | Plain Language Specialist

I am passionate about words, the arts, and making the planet a better place.

Throughout my life, I have lived out this passion in various ways, including as an author, writer/editor, business owner, and non-profit sector manager.

My diverse experience equips me to understand a whole situation, not just the document in front of me. I can foresee future difficulties and identify implied incongruities; I can probe deeply to get at what is truly most important.

I have been writing and editing as part of professional roles for over 25 years and as a freelancer since 2015. I achieved “highest distinctions” in my training both as an editor and as a plain language specialist.

I enjoy doing what I do best and making my unique contribution to the world. According to the Clifton StrengthsFinder system, my Top 5 strengths are:

1. Intellection — I “regard the written word as a gateway to a vast world of new ideas.”
2. Connectedness — I “isolate facts that link ideas, events, or people.”
3. Strategic — I “make sense out of seemingly unrelated information.”
4. Learner — I am “attracted to difficult and challenging endeavors.”
5. Achiever — I “harbor a deep-seated desire to have a good influence on the planet and its people.”

The odds of someone else sharing these Top 5 strengths are 1 in 33 million!

The unique value I offer goes far beyond words.

“By weaving your passion and unique skills with a need or cause,
and standing with the people you want to serve,
you will be well-positioned to make a meaningful dent in the world.”

– Oscar Auliq-Ice
